Major Gifts

No silos allowed

All of Gabriel Group's fundraising services are designed to move the donors up the giving pyramid to the point at which some will become prospects for significant major gifts. Too often, organizations work in fundraising silos. One department is responsible for donor acquisition, one for renewals, another Major Giftsfor major gifts and still another for planned giving. Often these departments do not communicate with one another, much less coordinate efforts and message. Many do not even work from the same database of donors.

At Gabriel Group, we bring all of these efforts to the table at the same time. And while our primary focus is on broad-base annual fund, midpoint and planned giving programs, the strategies for these efforts should not happen in a vacuum or silo.

Gabriel Group's analytics products analyze and evaluate ALL donors in your organization's database.

  • AEGISSM uses all in-house data and gift information your organization is able to provide to assess the current health of your development program.
  • GabrielSmartSM adds external data to bring the picture of each individual donor into clearer focus, enabling resources to be directed to the Major Gifts Siteareas of greatest potential.
  • Donors are evaluated for the purposes of annual and midpoint giving, major gift potential and planned giving propensity
    and capability.

Some donors will be identified as highly qualified major gift prospects. Gabriel Group provides this information to the major gift team with recommendations for cultivation and follow-up.

Maecenas Foundation File Scoring

This propensity and capability graph illustrates how donors and prospects can be scored and ranked for purposes of major gift selection.

For the Maecenas Foundation, 753 individuals from a universe of 344,891 prospects possess the capability to make a one-time give of $150,000 or more. When indexed by propensity, 79 of 753 showed the highest propensity of giving to the Maecaenas Foundation, while 98 showed no propensity to support the Foundation even though they had the ability to make a single large gift.

Using the top left quadrant of the report, the Foundation sorted this information by region of the country and specific cities within each region. Regional major gift officers were provided with this information for use in identifying, cultivating and soliciting high-potential, highly qualified major give prospects within their respective regions.

All decisions related to full service fundraising communication and solicitation can then be coordinated with the gift officer assigned to the major gift prospect. Ask if you qualify for a free AEGIS donor-based analysis.

Using actual client data, the Maecenas Foundation is a fictitious organization created to explain Gabriel Group's AEGIS Analysis process. Its name is derived from Gaius Maecenas (74 B.C. - 8 B.C.), Roman Statesman and patron of arts and letters, whose famous literary circle includes Horace, Virgil and Propertius. He is recognized by many as the first philanthropist.
